Default UG: Urticullaria graminofolia 2x2 flats: With photos of what is sent

This morning I am sending out the 18 orders of UG that I sold on APC and PT, and I still have a few left. Now, I have had people tell me that there is UG sold on Aquabid that is much cheaper, and so I wanted to show you what you get for the price so that you can compare.

Here are pics from today as I was sending the orders. The pieces are actually bigger, about 2x3 or 2x4 inches, and as you can see in the cut, it's SOLID there is no space between plants, it's 100% UG cut into rectangular shape.

So if you are interested in one of the most UNIQUE substrates that is available, here is the deal.

$25 for one 2x2 (or larger really) piece, if you get 2 ore more, I pay shipping.

Here is a bigger special, 3 or more, $20 each, and I pay shipping. That will give you enough plugs for a foreground of a 60-75g tank. Imagine that with a UG carpet in the front.

BTW, here it is in a tank before I started taking it apart:

It grows really well if it's in fertilized soil (like aquasoil) and with a lot of light and a ton of CO2. It does not like shade. It takes 3-4 weeks to settle in and then starts spreading, pretty quickly.

sounds good. Keep in mind, this is the last batch i am offering, I am not going to grow anymore. And for some reason, it seems that nobody else is growing any serious quantities of this plant.

Hi Ed,

Can you tell us a little more about the growing requirements for this plant? How does it compared to HC and glosso in terms of growth rate?. It looks wonderful in your tank by the way.

John, I dont think it's a tough plant. I think it's very specific in its requirements, but it IS considered an invasive species so it can't be that hard. I have not tried it with different conditions, I have given it Aquasoil, lots of CO2 and strong variable light period (4 hrs PCs, 4 hrs MH 150w, 4hrs PC). It seems given those three things (light, co2, aquasoil) it just does really well.

It has an unusually long dormancy period, 3-6 weeks is normal. It's not a plant for impatient people, it's not glosso (not that there is anything wrong with glosso, my next tank project is glosso based).

All I know is this, I am terrible at fertilizing, I dont know a thing about the EI or any other method beyond ADA Steps, which I mess up on weekly basis (2-3 times a week at most instead of daily) and it grows quick and looks amazing. How hard can it be?
