Default phyllanthus fluitans too much light blocking?

if i were to cover the surface of an open tank with this plant, would it be at all possible to grow any low light plants, such as anubias or ferns, below it? if so, how much light (wpg) would be necessary?

I'm thinking if the Phyllanthus fluitans covered the surface completely limited light would get through. Anubias, ferns and crypts would do okay, but would not thrive. Even if you increase the lighting, it's like having a blanket over your head and someone shining a big bright flashlight at you. You won't be able to see the light in any decent intensity.

Now if you have the Phyllanthus fluitans covering about 50-75% of the surface and water movement keeping them moving at times, I say you'll be perfectly fine growing those species underneath the cover.

I agree with John, water movement on the surface would be a must.

I have this stuff covering about 20% of my tank surface. The plants underneath it still get a decent amount of light from the but it's obviously not the brightest. If you do do it, I'd get bright lights to bust thru the cover.
