Good day to all
Just a word or two to tell you were I’m from and what started of in this great hobby. Living in South Africa we are exposed to various climates from extreme heat to very cold days. Being a total nature child I love seeing and experiencing all the beauties of nature but cant always go out to do so. So I decided to bring it indoors. Currently running the following tank sizes: 1x 5ft Tropical combination: Angels, Gourami’s a school of cories and one big plec. 3 x 3ft Tropical also combinations. 1 x180l with Goldfish 10 x small systems under a 100l for breeding purposes and also for my Betas 1 x Marine Nano in the making and also a planted 4 ft tank that will be added soon, so all advice will be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to lots of sharing and learning! |

Oooh, South Africa. I think you're one of the first (if not the first) member we have from that country. Glad to have you aboard on ASW! You mentioned having several tanks for breeding. What types of fish do you breed, and any pictures of your breeding facilities?

Thank you for all the warm welcomes. Will make a point of taking some photos during the week. Redoing most of them so it will be a step by step hope you guys don’t mind but I love having a proper tank profile. Will be needing a lot of suggestions as I’m still new were it comes to proper scaping.
I’m presently trying my hand with breeding Betas and Danio’s on the tropical side and frog fish on the marine side. Nothing to special about the breeding facilities. Woke up one morning and decided that my spare room is hardly being used so I spoke to my partner and we decided that all the small tanks in the house will be moving there. We started by making covers for the walls and windows with spare polystyrene so that our winter cold won’t interfere with the tank temperatures. And every possible shelve got their own tank after that mission... LOL! ![]() Will start on the new topics as soon as possible. Did my first Lake Tanganyikan Cichlid setup this weekend, but there is not a lot of aqua scaping as they pretty much do their own thing with plants and the shells. But will still come show some photos of these beautiful curios little fishes. |
