Default Hi from Australia

Hello everyone from the Byron Bay hinterland, on the East Coast of Australia.

Congratulations on a fantastic forum!

I became interested in planted tanks a little over a year ago after stumbling across some Amano tanks on the net. Needless to say I am pretty well hooked. I have a main 4ft. tank in which the current aquascape is 4 months old and pictured below, and 3 x 1ft. cubes where I like to play around with different ideas.

I looking forward to learning from, and contributing to this forum as I go along on this intoxicating journey.

Cheers for now.

Nick

Welcome to ASW! That is a very smart tank. Nice job What is the plant that you have a small amount of behind the main rock on the left and on the right.

Thanks J House

I've identified that plant as a species of Crassula, and most likely Crassula helmsii, which grows both immersed and emersed. That plant, and the stones in the tank, were collected from Mann River, a couple of hours drive from where I live.

I don't think it's in common use here in Australia and ironically I found a close up pic of it on a Japanese plant sellers website.

水草 クラウスラ ヘルムシー レヨンベールアクア

I'm not entirely sure what it's ultimate height will be.

Cheers redtail, Jur4ik and Magpie and thanks for the comments.

Jur4ik there are a few stones which have been swallowed up by the Hairgrass and Glosso. Here's a pic of the hardscape before planting.

Welcome Byron,

Great looking developing scape you have there. Feel free to start a journal in our Aspiring Aquascaping Section of the forum so that we may follow its progress.

You are in fine company here.

Thanks trenac

I think I have the bones in place and hopefully I can fine tune the scape with some input from fresh eyes.
