Default Fluval Edge Aquarium

Neat concept.

Fluval Edge Aquarium

"The world’s first 3D water cube aquarium, the 23 litre Fluval EDGE can be filled to the very brim thanks to the glass top, providing high definition viewing from every angle.

The partially sealed top reduces evaporation for less maintenance and a large, hidden aperture allows oxygen exchange to keep fish healthy. A floating base design gives the set a very small footprint for easy placement and lends the aquarium a clean, contemporary look."

ive seen one of these planted up in a LSF. It looks very effective, the only downside beign that the two halogen spots are very directional down from the hood so the light falloff towards the edges of the tank is quite extreme so im not sure if anything would grow there.

ALthough it looks superb in the pics and is very aesthetically pleasing I have heard quite a few disappointments from people who have bought them.

Mainly issues to do with fish gasping because you fill it to the top and the only entry for gaseous exchange is hidden under the 'plinth' top. Not so good for Bettas which are about the only suitable fish for the size of the tank

The ones I have heard have had to lower the water level to allow more air in.

Also in the pic they put cardinals (or Neons I can't quite make them out) which need much more swimming space than this. When you see one of these in the flesh they are tiny!!!

In essence a great concept and design poorly thought out.

I'd think this would be hard to plant/clean unless there is an easy way of taking off the top.

My LFS has also Displayed one of this tanks, what I dislike is that the top glas cover is often covered with bubles - very distracting. halogen lightning doesnt realy do the job for plants, also it is very limited for scaping because of the very small hole on top.

in conclusion: it a nice piece of art but nothing sirious for aquascaping!

AquaJardin in Gloucester have one planted but it doesn't look like it's flourishing. The light seems to be aimed to a few spots rather than across the whole substrate.

It's nice to look at, but I wouldn't get one.

it is probably design by Industrial Designer instead of Aquascaper

Frank is that all the light Fluval pushes out? Too me it looks dark. How do you like the tank so far?
