Default "mixing" plants

Here's something that may be taboo to some, but I've been giving it some thought while preparing to do a new scape. The idea is to take two plants, irregardless of size or placement and allowing them to grow "mixed" together. one plant being submissive and another sort of "emergent". Not necessarily one taking over the other, but a nice complement to one plant, or both growing intertwined - on purpose. Some of you may do this all the time, but how extreme can it get? What are some of your ideas, thoughts?

here's a couple mixes that i've thought of:

narrow leaf java fern/taiwan moss
glosso/hyrdocotyle verticillata (actually saw this on tpt plant profile pic I love this look)

A friend of mine mixed java moss and riccia, for some time it looked nice, but eventually the riccia took over and he had to pull out both plants.

Another friend planted Utricularia Gramminifolia and HC in an Iwagumi layout, but the UG is taking over, sooner or later the HC will die off.

That narrow leaf java fern with taiwan moss combination you've mentioned could be awesome, specially if you add some twigs to the mix.

Personally, I hope the Eleocharis Parvula and Echinodorus Tenellus of my office's nano make a good mix.

Regards
