Default Now that you're an aquascaper...

Do you notice that you see things differently?

For me I can look at different glass containers and imagine the potential. Am I odd (probably), or do you also see the world around you or even nature differently?

Oh yes, at times I think of all sorts of crazy things that could be turned into a planted tank.
No examples right now, I am off to bed, but if I think of any good ones I will post back.

Every where I see nature (Not that often here in the city) I see inspiration, a group of plants that look like aquatic plants, ideas how to use certain plants.

Some years ago I looked for rocks - but stopped because there is none in Denmark that are useful.

I find myself looking for that perfect glass container when shopping. Something that would be unique and make a nice edition to the counter top.

When out in the yard, I see plants and think that would make a nice plant for the aquarium. Wishing I could find an aquatic ground cover that blooms for my tank.

I think it's the best symptom of an obsession - associating everything with the hobby.

I went to a zoo recently. Rather than admiring the animals etc. I was more interested in the huge pieces of driftwood and thinking of how to incorporate them into a large aquascape.

Same with photography too. Whenever I see something nice, I think that'll make a nice photo.

I've seen some neat little aquascapes made from these such vases. I forget who, but someone even made something out of a wine glass. I'll see if I can find the link.

Edit: I couldn't find the wine glass photo, but it was made by Rastaman. Here's another cool bowl from him I found while I was searching for his wineglass aquascape.

Yup that's what I remembered! Very impressive! It goes to show you can make an aquascape pretty much out of anything.

I feel your pain John, LOL. Even with wood furniture I think "in that table could fit a nice planted tank". Even in my office... I'm toying with the possibility of setting up a Wabi-Kuza to replace my pots....and I will do it ....eventually, lol.

Cheers.
