Hi Orlando,
I haven't seen that happen yet, but usually there's a issue where the photo is hosted. The image host is either down or the link to the photo was changed. Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about that. I'm working on a photo gallery so that people can host their photos here. This will resolve poor hosting or linking from other sites. -John N.

IN other forums, I have not seen this here, but like on APC, many people choose to upload the pictures to their very small space on APC.
When they do a new thread, and want to post pics but are out of room, they would tend to delete photo's from their oldest or least favorite thread to make room for the new thread. When you look at the older thread, the text is still there, but it is looking for photo's that have been deleted from the forum database, so it just shows a space that lets you know a photo DID exist. More and more you see people going to host sites like Photobucket or Flicker and then doing IMG tags to the pictures, it really is the way to go and helps all the old posts and saves valuable space within the forum's site. John, it might be a good idea to post a sticky telling new members how to join photo hosting sites and how to tag IMG links to threads, then explain the benefits of doing so. It is early in the life of the forum and that would help avoid some of the problems that older sites have from still being held back by old tech.

My pleasure Orlando.
I'm trying my best to keep up with all the projects going on and planned. I wish I had more time to check out all those aquascaping journals and showcases. You may also want to try hard refreshing (ctrl + F5) the threads with the "red x" just in case there was a glitch loading the page on your side.Goalcreas, a good idea and I'll capture some screen shots and create a tutorial. The red x boxes or blank spaces seen in old threads (and sometimes new) are deleted /moved images by the user, and/or image hosted issues. It's frustrating to see great comments and no picture. Unfortunately, people will continue to delete or move their images in any hosting service. The same goes with image attachments on threads but it occurs less often. -John N.
