Hi All,

Thought I should start a journal to continue what has been said in my welcome thread....

Hi All,

Thought I should start a journal to continue what has been said in my welcome thread. (http://www.aquascapingworld.com/foru...438-hello.html)

This is my first planted tank ( 2nd aquarium) that I intend to get a sort of iwagumi style from.

At current the tank just has a couple of grasses and a bushy fast growing plant, both of which will be removed once the moss gets more established. (moss is in the tank now, picture was taken before I had it)

I am growing more Java moss in a large pint glass on the window sill with ferts and DIY Co2. Today it was pearling so I guess it must be growing.

Once the moss gets established I want to start introducing some livestock that I intend to keep.

At current I have 2 guppy's and two pygmy Corys ( i would like to keep the pygmys as they are really small and sweet)

The Tank Details are as follows;

16l Tank
2 x 8Watt Bulbs
Small trickle filter (with Zeolite final stage )

And to be added
DIY CO2
Drop Tester

I would like the tank to eventually just be Java Moss and Riccia Fluitans (again to establish an Iwagumi) feel.

After 1 week of being set up the tank has " perfect " water stats as my local Aquatic centre put it.

No Nitrite, Low Nitrate, No amonia, Ph of 6.8, GH 7d

I want to leave the tank longer to settle / get established, but am wondering what stock I could keep in the tank once its ready.

I would like to keep Cherry shrimp ( possibly breed them) and maybe 4 Pygmy Corys.

Would this be too much for the tank? Should I just stick with the two pygmy Corys I have now or would they be happier as a shoal?

The guppy's I'm certain I don't want to keep, they are "out of scale" with the tank and are fairly " dirty" as fish go. + they are two males and i dont think they are getting on too well.. (if i remove them will my filter bacteria be hungry for food?) Would it be wise if i do remove the guppys to increase the number of corys? to continue ammonia production?

Sorry for all the questions :o

Hopefully someone can make sense of them all! If there is anything unclear, please ask!

Cheers
James

The title says it all!

I'm not an aquascaper, (maybe I would be if the budget allowed, but it doesn't). My tank is, primarily going to be a fish tank, and secondarily, a planted tank. So the fish will be my focus. But that doesn't mean that it can't be a nice planted tank. I've kept fish for quite some time now, but I figured I needed a new something to help my tanks look better.

I've learned a lot from my short time on here. And as I learn and save more money, the tank will continue to progress.

My priorities with the tank in its current condition are:

1. Cycle the tank to prepare for more fish

2. Maintain the plants that I currently have

3. Procure more fish

4. Procure more plants

5. Better filter (would like to go canister)

6. More lighting (to eventually prepare for the more particular plants for my end goal)

7. More CO2

8. Watch it grow

Tank Information:

Size- 29G/113L

Lighting- 1x 20W Flora-Glo

CO2- DIY yeast bottle at .5 b/s

Substrate- Caribsea Midnight Floramax

Ferts- Tetra Florapride and Plant Gro Iron Enriched

Fish- 1x Golden Algae Eater

Plants- Corkscrew Val (I originally bought three CV plants, but throughout the months, the plants have split into 11 now)

This is how I originally set up the tank (excuse the terrible picture quality) before I joined up here.

I decided that the fake rock took too much of the focus and ditched it.

Then I wanted to improve the hardscape a bit and went rock-hunting. I got some that I really liked, but now I need to make a second trip and get some more rocks.

And this is how it currently looks.

Thanks for looking! I welcome any tips, hints, critiques, advice, and opinions. Since I am so new, just about any advice is helpful.

I am trying something new and different, a planted nano setup in a bowl. I found these real nice little bowls manufactured by Live with Nature, the one-gallon Luminous Aquarium. The Luminous bowls feature artistically layered bits of color around their bases and top rim. I had never seen anything like this and the pictures in their online store were so pretty. Here is the link over to their main site:

www.LiveWithNature.net

I was impressed with the price tag on the Luminous, especially for a hand-blown, Made in the USA glass piece. While ordering I selected the Earth Aquarium. I liked the look of the natural, earthy hues in that one, and I imagined that the colors would contrast well with a little nano planting inside. Last night when I got home the box was waiting there for me.

I also got a quick shot of the Luminous in situ.

This will be a fun, refreshing little no-tech project. I intend to just light up the bowl with the diffuse sunlight coming through the window--It makes such a neat effect with the colors. I might dose with Excel.

Hallo !

It has been a long time from last time I presented an aquascape.

This tread , is something between an aspiring aquascape and aquatic photography.

In the beginning I was ready to present some pictures of my show tank which is running from March, but as I was playing with my Nikon D60...another  hit me.
What about playing with camera settings, lenses, backlighting, external flash unit , processing and sooo many other factors that are making photography an art and fun in the same time ?

The aquascapes title is " Zeus Throne" and is inspired from the lanscapes I saw while climbing Οlympus the notorius Greek mountain which was believed by ancient greeks that was the residence of Zeus , father of the Gods.
Ηere are some pictures of one of the mountains peak, called..Zeus Throne

The aquascape is still not finished, and I have a problem especially at the right corner where the light is not anough to create a low bush of R.rotundifolia, which was my plan from the beginning.

Some information about the tank:

Dimensions: 121 X 50 X 55 cm
79 Gallons/ 300 lit
Lighting: 322 Watts 6X54w T5's
CO2: Pressurized 6 kgr bottle, DIY diffuser
Substrat: Seachem flurite
Fauna: 17 Threadfin rainbows, 35 Celestial pearl danios, 3 Peacock gudgeons, amano shrimps, blue pearl shrimps.
Plants: Too many...(again) :-s

Enough ! lets start playing with creative, artistique, aquascaping photography..

I've finally settled down and started working at Aquarium Design Group as the head of the ADA side of the business. It's been about 4 months since I've been able to put together an aquascape, but here's the start of my newest edition:

The scape was set up this past Sunday, and the intent is to just use the one plant to simulate waves over coastal stone.
