Default Heater option?

Hi,
I plan to setup a 10 gal DIY rimless (removing rim from regular 10 gal) and using Tom Rapid Mini Canister Filter with cheap lily pipe from Ebay.
What should I do about heater, don't want to put a submersible heater in the tank. Is there any other option I can do to this setup?

What do pepole use as heater for ADA setup?

You can try the Hydor External Heaters. Best external heater there is in my opinion.

Not inline externaly, but the one that I am the most excited about is Renas new smart heater. The entire heater is solid black and made of some kind of really hard plastic resin. No glass. Completly unbreakable. It is cool to the touch. It has a flashing LED alarm light that goes off if the temp goes plus or minus 5 degrees from the set point. It is extremely accurate, from 63 to 93F.

It can also snap onto the Rena smartfilter, an HOB filter, and become the heated intake tube of the filter! Very cool.

What about DIY?
Hydor in-line is very good, but they are to strong for 10 gal, as they come like 200W and 300W units.
This is how i build mine inline heater for nano tank (heater is 25W)

It's impossible to disjunction it (glued with Tangit - PVC glue), but you can clean it fairly easy, if necessary. I used to clean all equipment once a year in vinegar solution, generally due to aqueous lime scale.

This is a nice tek! I've been toying with the idea of making my own DIY inline heater, so to see yours just proves that it can be done! I've been thinking about using PVC and trying to come up with a way to incorporate compression fittings so it could be dismantleable (is that a word?), so it would be easy to clean. But you're right, maybe it's not necessary since a little acidbath could do the deed.

Excellent work!

Thank you Rastaman for excellent DIY !

One more heater for Rastaman's in-line DIY heater - AQUAEL(R) Easy Heater 25, 50, 75, 100W (~ $15).
It is just like Rena smart heater - extremely small, non breakable, electronic, two-sided installation and auto shut-off (!).
I have glued it inside of my east CO2 generator.

Forget to say that with plastic heater we can make it a CO2-reactor simultaneously.
