125ltr Once Upon A Time At The Riverbank AUGUST MEGA UPDATE

This is the start of the journal following me taking down 'Celestial Rapture'.

A quick recap of the Tech Specs:

125Ltr 80cm Fluval tank
Eheim 2224 external Filter
Hydor ETH200 inline heater
37W 5500K LED lighting 9 hours a day set to sunrise/sunset stagger.

Starting with the hardscape cleaned up from the previous setup:


Then we have the plants from the previous scape that I am taking into this scape:


And the substrate all tidied up:


First off I attached the Philippine Fern to it's 'mount' with.......


And then I attached the needles and Anubias to the main hardscape pieces. Next step was to put the wood into the tank:


Finally for this post, I added the cobbles/pebbles around the base of the wood ready to fill up:


Can't show you pictures of the finished planted setup yet because I cannot see into the tank. lol. I have a fluval3+ in there with carbon inside and filter wool to clear it up ASAP. This is on top of a 50% change 10 hours after initial setup.

What do you use as supstrate? Just fine sand or is there any fertz in there?

Lol that is one quarter of it the other 3 quarters has been sold Also I have only used 1/21th of the needles. the other 20/21ths already been sold too

Thie substrate was added in September 2007. It was originally Mulm, Leonardite, Tropica and then fine sand on top. Last night I took the water level down. Scooped as much of the sand of the top as I could then gave the Tropica/Leonardite mix a good thorough stir before putting the sand back on top Therefore no need for cycling as the substrate is already 'active' with bacteria etc

I have used superglue in the past too and it worked very well. wouldn't really recommend it with moss though I guess since while it worked pretty well, it took a while for the moss to "break out" of the glue.

I use zip ties almost exclusively. They come in different sizes and can be used on almost all thickness of branches.

Isn’t super glue poisonous to shrimps and fishes?

Superglue is often used to join tissue together. i.e. instead of stitches in some cuts. I've not had any deaths since first using it.

Reefers often use it to stick Corals onto rocks. I tend to use reefers as a guide of safety seeing as they are real control freaks compared to most freshwater people

So if it's good enough for them then that says it's safe to me

The 25 Rasbora Espei are in there and look great but still to colour up fully.

Lol. I had some of these pebbles/cobbles in a scape in 2006

Nope I never vacuum the substrate. It never gets dirty Can you spot any poop?

We are not about copieing - rather about usage of round stones.
As I first started my discus tank, many people told me not to use those stones, now after the tank has matured everybody says that it works and I see more and more people using those stones. Maybe I´m wrong but that is my personal feeling. Somehow it is funny
Further I´m honest, your prevous tank was my inspiration as I told that before

PS: surely this all round stone thing happen coincidentally. (is there any other word for random happening)

If it has some character, almost any rock is usable somehow. On topic, it's looking very nice scoley, but I'd try to keep the branch underwater if it's just the one sticking out. Looks a bit awkward. The overall impression of the scape is fantastic though.
