What could have cause this rotala plant stem turn black? The black portion will melt off into 2 parts in the later stage but the plant is still surviving. Anyone come across this?

I do have a powerhead, but as the plants get bushy they block the flow. Rotala can get very bushy and leggy causing this problems, other plant i dont have this issue at all.

but on the top this stem plants still get enough nutrients.. so why shoud they try to escape from their "body" ?!
still in my opinion the stems have been damaged or been ill and because of bacteria they die only at this place. and this is the point! not under or above tha gravel , they didnt start to rot - they just die at his small place. as i can see some of the stemps seems to be colored a bit yellow - maybe they have a lack of iron and they are too tall and too bushy to transport enough to this place .. how do you handel with them now? |
