Hi,
Very soon I will start a new project... ![]() It will be a rocky layout with mosses and crypts, but in alkaline and high temperature conditions. Got a list of crypt species that will thrive in alkaline conditions, and also interested on having Riccardia chamaedryfolia or Riccardia graeffei. Both look similar and can be kept at alkaline conditions. My question is: did someone kept it before in these conditions (high temp and pH near ?Did you were sucessfull? Regards, Joe Faria |

For me mini pellia/coral moss/Riccardia chamedryfolia grew very well in cooler water 65-68*F, KH 4, GH 8. Eco Complete Substrate
It grew fine in my other tank that was at 72-75*F, but more slowly. Could be the result of different lighting setup (lower). -John N.

Hi John,
Thanks for the answer.... I'm still considering the coral moss, in a new project for Sulawesi shrimps. Did not started yet, because I'm waiting for my holiday, to build a stand strong enough to hold 3 cube tanks.... ![]() Regards, Joe Faria |

I had Riccardia graeffei and Monosolenium tenerum in pH 7+, gH 18, kH 14 and at 25* C. It grew fast but Riccardia was slow in start and had a lot of problems with algae since it grew so slowly.
Even after i removed it 3 times, I still find it growing in my substrate and it seems impossible to get rid of. It will stick to moss and grow in between it. I had succes with Riccardia growing on lava-rocks - I took some small pieces of Riccardia and tied tightly on with cotton string. It took some time for it to grew in, but it looked nice after it grew all together. M. tenerium was harder to grow nicely, since it grew more outwards.
