Default Hygrophila sp. '??': Plant id needed

I bought this plant from an lfs. It was listed as an unknown Hygro that they recieved from an overseas distributor.

Leaves develop either a really nice emerald green or a light red.

Growth rate. At this rate my grandkids would have to do the first trimming.

Its spent at least a month settling in with almost no growth. I now get a new leaf showing every week or so. Older leaves, if you can really call them that, have been dieing off. First twisting and deforming before they melt away.

Would like to try and get an id on this to try and get it to grow properly.

Tough one, Hygrophila are often misnamed or fall under a blanket of Hygrophila species that share the same names...To me, your plant looks like Hygrophila angustifolia.

The coloration of that is close.

But the best way I can describe it is that it has the same growth pattern of leaves and stems as Hygro 'Tiger' but at a snails pace. Its been almost a week since I took those photos and there is virtually no change in height. The two new leaves in the last photo are a little larger, and I mean a little larger.

Increase in GH seems to be improving the leaf die off though.

I guess in a year when it actually grows into something I might be able to tell.

Its a beautiful plant though. I just wish it would grow faster to get some quanity out of it.
