Great article. Where can I purchase manzanita branches? I would love to use them in my aquariums.

Hello there and welcome to ASW!! You can purchase manzanita branches from Manzanita Burlworks - The Source for Quality Handcrafted Manzanita Products

Call and talk to Rich and tell him what you are doing. He is quite familiar with the aquarium trade. Be patient, I have noticed that he gets very busy and doesn't ship out as quickly as we would like. Give him about 3-4 day after placing your order and then call him to see if it has shipped out. Remember to soak them first. If a slime begins to develop on the wood while soaking, simply use a brush and clean water and then continue soaking. The longer you soak them the better off you will be.

Good luck and make sure to follow up with some pics!!

Thank you Roy for the info On Manzanita Burlworks. I've got some Mopani wood in 2 of my tanks at this time. But one piece is a bit large for the tank it's in and also those pieces just lay on the bottom. They don't have the configuration to "sit up" in the tank like the manzanita does. Or so it seems. Thanks again Roy.

Good article, but I believe that some different colored rocks add personality and if
they are gemstones like quartz, the fish and plants can benefit from the metaphysical
properties of those gems.

Interesting article, I always use cured mangrove branches since they are freely available were I live in many sizes and forms.
