Default Aquascaping with Sketches

I always use a sketch long time before i start scavenging for stuff. When i get an idea or know im going to make a tank, i take a piece of paper and get on with it.

Then i use the sketch when i make the tank. I hang it over the tank and when arranging hardscape and planting, I step back and compare to see if im on track.

nice, looks like you drew the picture after you grew the tank.

Thanks - but no. I was pretty suprised to find that it look so close to the drawing. Unfortunately the crypts grew way too big, so i had to remove them. And after some time the bolbitis died. So what you plan/plant isnt always what you get long term.

very nice!

I think sketching helps very much with laying out an aquascape.
because you can take what you have drawn and envision it in your tank. then you could look out for hard scape and plants that suit your needs. you should also observe how the plants grow just to see how it will effect the other media in the tank, ei: if plants get to big find a smaller, similar looking plant, that is more aesthetic for the layout(change things around to suit your needs). sketching will surely change the outcome of the tank in a very positive way.
