Man, this aquascape, has me MTS'ing already!!
![]() I think I'll try something like this, only with Riccia, tennelus or Java Moss on top of the rock rather than B. Japonica, as I heard Bj is really hard to care for, and doesn't last long.. Anyone else that has B. japonica in their tank care to comment on this? Not a big glosso fan, I don't think.. Prefer mini swords like E. tennelus or S. pusilla.. John is there a way we could get a full frontal of this tank, to take in the whole picture? |

Thanks John..
Yes, quite the work of art.. It's given me quite a few ideas for my own tank.. If I ever do a 2nd, I'll try to do a straight-up Iwagumi style tank.. But for my first I'll be focused more on the fish than the landscape (corys, dwarf gourami, cardinals), and will have to settle for some sort of hybrid (community tank/restful aquascape).. We'll see, I guess.. ![]() Thanks again for getting us this! I love the rock.. So much character! Where are the fish, I wonder.. That's the missing element that would make this aquascape complete.. |

I had wild green neons in this tank and all they did was hide. This tank did not "score" well in competition for several reasons.
1. No fish, lacked the sense of movement. 2. Although I used an odd number of rocks, i believe there was a total of nine rocks, I failed to make it appear to have a odd number of stones. There are actually 5 different stones used to appear as one in the back left. |

The experiences I've had with it are pretty much identical to that description. In my tank its a weed. |

That's what I read in Hiscock's Encyclopedia of Aquarium Plants..
"Even in the best conditions this plant may have a limited lifespan in the aquarium. For optimum care, provide very bright lighting and a soft water environment" And he rates it 3-4, 4 being the the most difficult plant to care for. So I'd be interested in hearing what other people who have had it in their tanks think.. |

I would be interested also. I believe a display tank Roy has has some blyxa in it that has to be at least a year old.
I don't understand the limited lifespan though? Its a stem plant. I pull and seperate new stems constantly so it doesn't get obnoxiously bushy. The new stems get planted and soon new stems are forming off of the old one. |

I had it for some time at high light, high CO2, EI ferts and soft water.
It looked good for some time ~ 1½month. Then suddently melted away... Newer quite found out why. The closest guess was that my SAE eate them. The guy I got it from grew his with vigusly growth.
