Default Autumn Sunrise - 9th place in Nano category AAC

Hello fellow aquascapers

This is my contest scape, it is the first time i have entered a contest, so I am very pleased to have placed 9th in category. The idea behind this scape was maintainability, so i chose plants that could be easily pruned and would recover quickly thereafter. My inspiration came from watching the sun rise on the Dorset coast one autumn morning.

Aquascape title : Autumn Sunrise
Tank volume (liter) : 21 liters
Tank size (Length x width x height) : 36 x 22 x 26 cm

Plants :
Riccia fluitans, Rotala rotundifolia

Lightning :
Two 24 Watt cool white power compacts (over tank)
One 7 Watt warm white tulip bulb (backlight
For 10 hours per day

Fish & Invertebrates :
Nannostomus Beckfordi

Fertilization:
3/4ml Tropica plant nutrition+ and 3/4ml Tropica plant nutrition per day
CO2: One bubble per second for 11 hours per day
Substrate: Eco Complete and GEOsystems sand

Regards James

I love this tank!
I looked it up on the results and loved it.
Its quite origeonal, not like the usual nature style scapes you see

Thanks for your compliments guys, they are much appreciated.

To answer your questions Jur4ik:

I prune the Riccia once a week, although i did not prune it for the first 3 weeks after setup.

The mixture of ferts was discovered by way of a happy accident. The dosing regime was 1ml TPN+ per day, but one morning I picked up the wrong bottle and before i realised what i was doing, I had dosed 3/4ml of TPN to the tank. I thought the plants might suffer without their N and P, so i dosed 3/4ml of TPN+ as well. The next day the new tops of the Rotala had grown red, so stuck with 3/4ml of each.

Yes the lighting is DIY

Cheers James

Thank you guys,

Because the tank is so small i wanted to create strong lines, to keep an ordered feel to the scape. Riccia seemed like an ideal way to do this, as it has small leaves/fronds and can be shaped via pruning.

Cheers James
