Aquatic Plant Photo Competition

One of our first major projects for our community is to create an aquascaping related Plant Database. I know what you're thinking, there are things like this out there, but trust me ours will be dramatically different. Not only will it offer a different perspective, but it will also feature user-friendly search options, advance criteria searching, keyword search, and much more. The new database will also offer aquascaping suggestions with each plant profile with real aquascaping examples. This should help a lot of aquascapers who love a certain plant, but can't figure out how to make it "fit" their layout.

Here's where you can help. We need your help in gathering the initial photos for our plant database. To encourage photos submittals and to make it fun for everyone, ASW staff has put together our first ever contest!

Here's your chance to win CASH while helping to create a premier plant and aquascaping resource.

Prizes
Besides having a chance to have your photo featured on ASW. You have the chance to win CASH!

• 1st Place - $30
• 2nd Place - $20
• 3rd Place - $10

Contest Rules

• Three (3) max per person
• Photo(s) focus on one individual plant species
• No identifying watermarks, stamps, etc. on photo entries (to be fair in judging)
• You permit ASW to use your photo(s) in the database and other site related projects
• Entries must be received by May 18, 2008 (5pm PST)

How to Enter:

• Please email all photo entries to admin@aquascapingworld.com before the Contest Deadline May 18, 2008. Don't forget to add your ASW username in the body of the email and the correct identification of your plants in your photo(s).
• If you have photos of the plant in an aquascape we would love to see them as well. Keep in mind these full aquascape photos will not be included in the contest, but will serve to help build our plant profiles.

Voting:

• All photos submitted before the May 18 deadline will be voted on by our community. The winners with the most votes will win.
• Although we don't anticipate this happening, vote "stuffing" with one time members will be monitored.

If you're in it for the competition, you'll have a good chance of winning. Though it's still early, there have been no photo entries.

I have a decent camera (Canon G7) but I'm a crappy photographer :29:. Anyway I will try to contribute to the database for sure. Even if I don't win, it'll be funny. I think this feature will be very helpful to get better aquascapes, thanks for creating it.

Due to popular demand, The deadline has been extended to Sunday May 18 (5pm PST).

This should give more people a chance to entry our contest with quality photos. I received some early entries the other day, and there pretty good. Please get your photos in as soon as you can.

Hmm, Coleman unless you're refering to something different, this thread is the annoucement for the photo competition, which extends an invitation for folks to submit their photos via email (admin@aquascapingworld.com). Once the submital deadline comes around this Sunday, ASW staff will put together all the entries and open them for public voting.

Thanks for everyone who has participated so far. We have some nice pictures coming in. Let's keep them coming!
