Hi everyone, I'm Stefanie.
I've been keeping fish (and other aquatic pets) for 8+ years, but I only started working with plants at the beginning of 2007. I'm not all that great at aquascaping yet, but I'm learning a lot, and I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually. Plus, I'm moving in a few weeks, so I'm sure I'll get a lot of practice when I tear down and rebuild my tanks.
I have a 10 gallon low-tech shrimp tank (which will hopefully be upgraded to a 20 during the move). It has 20 watts of cfl lighting, no co2 injection, and I dose potassium once every few months. The plants grow slowly, but they look healthy, and there's almost no algae.
I also have a 6 gallon betta tank. It has 13-26 watts of light (it has two 13 watt bulbs, but I usually only use one at a time), DIY co2, and I use the EI method of fertilization. It has some algae, probably due to fluctuating co2 levels.
This is an old picture of the betta tank. It looks slightly different now. The coconut hut has been replaced with another piece of driftwood, and the watersprite has been removed.
I also have a few
light bulb aquariums and a planted
snake tank.
